Mahathir’s worst fear
Tawfiq Zawawi
Why is Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad fidgeting more than Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi?
TDM is former prime minister, if you will allow me to be so crude, a has-been.
Meanwhile AAB is the man of the hour; he is the one with everything to lose in the world of politics.
If anyone should worry about Anwar pulling the carpet under Barisan Nasional it should be Abdullah but he seems to be going on as normal and even taking time to listen to Umno grassroot grouses.
Dr. Mahathir on the other hand seems to be sweating buckets at the prospect of Anwar becoming Prime Minister?
Don’t you think that is odd?
I asked this question to an old hand at politics and the answer surprised me.
Well actually if I had thought about it I may have arrived at the same conclusion but anyway this is what he said: “He is just making noise to scare Umno and protect himself. What do you think would happen if Anwar became PM?"
Ah hah!
Let’s face it, in 22 years of power Mahathir has made many mistakes, far more than Abdullah could have made in his five years in office so maybe he is just worried about the past being dug up.
The mood is such in this country that I am sure a few thousands would volunteer to be political forensic scientists, examining mud encrusted evidence of wrongdoing, impropriety, abuse of power, cronyism, nepotism etc.
Just last week I was talking to a senior Umno member and he was fighting the urge to reply to Mahathir’s screams of nepotism and cronyism under Abdullah’s administration.
“Not that I am saying it is not happening now, but I am saying that it happened then too and on the same scale.
He asked me to find out:
Who profited from the construction of tower one and two of the KLCC complex;
Whose company supplied the expensive Arkwright office furniture for the entire project;
Which individual made money from the North-South Highway project;
Who had a fatter bank account after the Government bought Skyhawk flying coffins for the RMAF;
Go back in history and check who used to control ECM Libra.
Anwar may say that he can forgive and forget but if TDM continues to be a prick on his side, then Saudara may well just do something to shut him up once and for all.
Maybe that’s is why he is so unhappy with the current level of transparency.
After all, if we read the blogs and believe them all, then the complete catalogue of Abdullah’s shortcoming is already on public display and as is often the case, with time and new revelations of Mahathir’s own shortcomings, Abdullah’s list is looking less and less pathetic. And we are still assuming everything written in blogs are true, some of them may be pure fantasy and fabrications.
Whereas Mahathir’s list can only grow and grow as he did a good job hiding all secrets but as God promises the truth will always prevail. Malaysians should just sit back and enjoy the show.-malaysiaaktif
